Interceptive Orthodontics (Early Treatment Orthodontics)
Interceptive orthodontics is the other name for early treatment orthodontics. It can begin in children aged 6 to 7 years. At this age, both teeth and jaw are in their development stage. Conditions such as crowding, tongue thrust, and cross-bites are quite common but easy to address. Appliances that we commonly use for treating these dental disorders include Space Maintainers, Habit Appliances, and Rapid Palatal Expanders.

Space Maintainers : A space maintainer is an appliance used to keep the space in the jaw open so that the permanent teeth can erupt and come into its place. We use several types of space maintainers, depending on the situation. Some common ones are – band and loop, distal shoe, Nance and Lingual Holding Arch.
Habit Appliances : We use habit appliances in treating tongue thrusts and thumb sucking habits.
Rapid Palatal Expander : We use Rapid Palatal Expanders or RPEs for treating posterior cross-bites.

Our Parent Reviews
Dominick was back at Joyful Smiles Pediatric Dentistry of Bradley this morning! I really cannot say enough about how amazing they are. The hygienist meet with me first thing and already knew about his cyclic vomiting and asked my input about triggers. The doctor spoke with me regarding the oral surgeon and will continue to personally follow up. They are extremely professional but more than that they really care. First complete teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment in seven years and definitely no trauma!!! Very impressive!!!!
