What is Preventative Dental Care?
Preventative dental care is the act of caring for teeth to keep them healthy. Routine preventative dental care can help children avoid cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, enamel wear, space deficiency and more. Our office provides a number of preventative services.
Composite Restorations (White Fillings):
Also known as resin, a composite restoration is a tooth-coloured restoration that helps in restoring a decayed or fractured tooth. The best thing about this restoration is, it looks natural and can easily be polished to look like a natural tooth.

When Do We Use Composite Fillings?
For primary or baby teeth composite fillings, we use composite fillings that are small in size and located on just one or two surfaces of the teeth. But for baby teeth with large cavities, we recommend using a stainless steel crown. And for adult teeth, we use composite only if there is considerable tooth structure loss.
Stainless Steel Crowns
Stainless steel crowns are also known as performed metal crowns or silver caps. They are basically full-coverage crowns that protect the tooth from the attack of disease-causing bacteria. The best thing about stainless steel crowns is that they are superior restorations and have extraordinary durability and longevity. The only drawback is, they are aesthetic and look silver in colour.

When Do We Use Stainless Steel Crown?
Stainless steel crowns are used for a wide array of reasons. We prefer using SSCs when a cavity is too large for composite or amalgam restorations. We also use it after nerve treatment. In simple words, stainless steel crowns are the best choice for children who are prone to dental caries.
Does My Child Need Stainless Steel Crowns On Anterior (Front) Teeth?
No! We know the aesthetic demands of parents and patients. For front teeth affected by decay, we offer several other aesthetic options. These mainly include composite fillings and tooth coloured dental crowns.

Our Parent Reviews
Dominick was back at Joyful Smiles Pediatric Dentistry of Bradley this morning! I really cannot say enough about how amazing they are. The hygienist meet with me first thing and already knew about his cyclic vomiting and asked my input about triggers. The doctor spoke with me regarding the oral surgeon and will continue to personally follow up. They are extremely professional but more than that they really care. First complete teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment in seven years and definitely no trauma!!! Very impressive!!!!
